This was a demonstrator bus.
The successor to the AEC Regal IV was this heavy but very successful early Regal VI. All Regal VI's were exported in two versions, right-hand drive and left-hand drive. Most right-hand drive examples came to Australia or South Africa. Brisbane's example was an experimental chassis fitted with a Torque-convertor transmission, making it virtually gearless or automatic. The torque-convertor transmission changed the gearing as the road speed increased or decreased.
